Each public institution of higher education must display the Ten Commandments in a common area by the same deadline, with identical text and minimum size requirements.

Displays must include a context statement describing the historical role of the Ten Commandments in American public education, referencing the New England Primer, McGuffey Readers, and Noah Webster textbooks.

Schools are not required to use state funds for the displays and may accept private donations or use free resources to comply with the requirement.

The State Department of Education and Alabama Commission on Higher Education must adopt rules to implement the display requirements and identify free resources for schools.
