AL SB190

Amends Alabama Code Sections 27-58-1, 27-58-2, and 27-58-4 to require health insurance plans to cover prostate cancer screening without cost-sharing requirements for men at high risk and all men over 50 years of age.

Defines "men at high risk" as African American men regardless of age and men with a father, brother, or son who had prostate cancer, died from prostate cancer, or carries genetic markers associated with increased prostate cancer risk.

Requires screening to include at minimum a prostate-specific antigen blood test and a digital rectal examination, offered annually without deductibles, coinsurance, or copayments for eligible populations.

Prohibits health insurers from reducing coverage, terminating services, reducing physician capitation payments, or penalizing health care providers who order prostate cancer screening consistent with this requirement.

Becomes effective on October 1, 2025.
