AL SB254

Extends the statute of limitations for civil actions involving sex offenses from 6 years to 36 years for individuals who are below 19 years of age or insane at the time the injury accrues.

Applies to civil actions based on sex offenses as described in Section 15-20A-5 of Alabama Code.

Maintains existing provisions that when both disabilities (being under age and insane) coexist, the limitation period does not begin until both disabilities are removed.

Preserves the right of imprisoned persons to commence actions enumerated in the statute.

Becomes effective October 1, 2025.
