Legislative Council may contract for demolition of the Alabama State House building at 11 South Union Street in Montgomery upon completion and designation of a new State House.

Building may be demolished in a manner that allows removal and disposition of property or materials with value, regardless of state inventory status, with the Legislative Council, Legislative Services Agency, House Clerk, and Senate Secretary providing a removal list to the State Auditor.

Removed property and materials may be reused, recycled, upcycled, sold, or disposed of in a fiscally responsible manner as determined by the Legislative Council.

Materials of minimal value may be utilized by the Legislative Council, House Clerk, and Senate Secretary to commemorate the historic value of the building and pay tribute to the Legislature.

House Clerk and Senate Secretary may set prices for and sell desks, chairs, and other items from the old chambers not being relocated to the new State House to members and employees of the Legislature.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2025.
