Amends Section 9-10B-7 of the Code of Alabama 1975 to change the Division Chief of the Alabama Office of Water Resources from a state Merit System employee to an exempt service employee.

Division Chief is appointed by the director with approval of the Governor and reports directly to the director.

Division Chief must be knowledgeable in water resource management, development, and conservation and carries out the functions and duties of the Office of Water Resources.

Director may appoint an acting Division Chief or assume the Division Chief responsibilities until a permanent Division Chief is selected and approved.

Effective date is October 1, 2025.
