AL SB30

Requires individuals in possession of a firearm to secure it in a manner where an unauthorized person is not likely to gain access, based on what a reasonable individual would know.

Defines "unauthorized person" as any individual not authorized by the firearm possessor or not legally permitted to possess the firearm under state or federal law.

Establishes violation of the storage requirement as a Class C felony.

Exempts firearms stored with a gun lock or carried on one's person from the storage violation requirement.

Effective date: October 1, 2025.
