AL SB309

Prohibits the operation of vehicles equipped with automated driving systems (ADS) if the vehicle requires a permit due to exceeding statutory limits for weight, width, length, or height.

Clarifies that statutory authorization for ADS-equipped vehicles does not create any legal duty for the state, counties, or municipalities to upgrade transportation infrastructure to accommodate such vehicles.

Prohibits state and local entities from imposing taxes or requirements specific to ADS-equipped vehicles or automated driving systems, except as authorized by law.

Preserves existing law regarding oversized vehicle movement permits and does not modify Section 32-9-29 of Alabama Code.
