Newly-elected Sheriff of Madison County receives a base salary of $170,000 per year, effective the first full pay period after taking office.

Sheriff receives a 7.5 percent salary increase upon re-election to a second successive term and an additional 7.5 percent increase for each subsequent successive term.

Sheriff elected to a non-successive term receives $170,000 per year, with the same 7.5 percent increase structure applying for subsequent successive terms.

Current sheriff serving on June 1, 2025, receives an immediate salary increase to $170,000 per year, plus a 7.5 percent increase for second successive term ($182,750), with provisions ending when that individual ceases to serve.

Sheriff receives standard employee benefits from Madison County Commission but no cost-of-living increases, and no other monetary compensation except itemized expense reimbursements; act becomes effective June 1, 2025.
