AL SB40

Names the legislation the "Houston/Hunter Act" and defines a firearm hold agreement as a private transaction where a federal firearm licensee takes physical possession of a lawfully possessed firearm at the owner's request, holds it for an agreed period, and returns it.

Provides civil immunity to federal firearm licensees operating lawfully in Alabama from private lawsuits for returning firearms to owners at the end of firearm hold agreements.

Exempts from immunity any actions arising from unlawful conduct by the federal firearm licensee or firearm transfers made in violation of Title 13A or Chapter 27 of Title 41 of the Alabama Code.

Becomes effective June 1, 2025.
