Commends the Honorable Johnny Hardwick on his retirement as Presiding Circuit Judge of the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit (Montgomery County).

Judge Hardwick was appointed by Governor Don Siegelman on June 27, 2001, elected to a six-year term in 2002, and re-elected in 2008, 2014, and 2020, serving 24 years total.

Judge Hardwick has over 40 years of legal and judicial experience, including nearly 20 years in private practice, service as an Assistant United States Attorney, and presiding over complex litigation including capital murder cases, legislative re-apportionment cases, and class actions.

Judge Hardwick served as President of the Alabama Association of Circuit Court Judges (comprising 148 judges in 41 circuits) and held numerous leadership roles in community organizations including the Capital City Bar Association, Mount Gillard Baptist Church, and Montgomery County Democratic Conference.

The legislature honors Judge Hardwick for his service to the State of Alabama and expresses confidence that he will continue serving his fellow Alabamians in retirement.
