Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 Hurricane on September 26, 2024, causing catastrophic flooding, landslides, and eight tornadoes in North Carolina, making it the deadliest Atlantic Hurricane since Hurricane Maria in 2017.

Alabama legislature encourages local, state, and federal agencies to assist North Carolina with hurricane debris removal by transporting debris to the Sylvan Springs landfill in Alabama using railroad cargo or other means.

Copies of this resolution shall be sent to the Army Corps of Engineers, FEMA Headquarters, state and local agencies, disaster support decision makers, and any private, public, or government entities with resources to assist in debris removal efforts.
