State and local law enforcement agencies authorized to enter agreements with the U.S. Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and other federal agencies to enforce federal immigration and customs laws, detain illegal aliens, and investigate immigration status

Law enforcement officers permitted to arrest individuals based on illegal alien status or federal immigration law violations, and to transport illegal aliens to federal custody

County and municipal jails required to make reasonable efforts to determine the immigration status of all confined individuals and to honor ICE immigration detainer requests for up to 48 hours

Jails must contact the Law Enforcement Support Center (LESC) when inmates cannot provide documentation of lawful status, and must notify ICE when an inmate is determined to be an illegal alien

Quarterly and annual reporting required from jails on foreign national inmates, including total bookings, LESC inquiries, and immigration detainers issued; effective date June 1, 2026
