Nursing facilities currently pay a base privilege assessment of $1,899.96 per bed annually plus $327.48 per bed, which funds Medicaid reimbursement for indigent health care

Locks Medicaid nursing home reimbursement methodology to the Alabama Administrative Code version in effect as of May 1, 2026

Assessment revenues must remain at or below 6% of total nursing facility revenues statewide to comply with federal Medicaid requirements
