Exempts contracts for the purchase, design, and installation of playground equipment from Alabama's public works law, which currently requires competitive sealed bidding for projects exceeding $100,000

Playground equipment contracts must instead follow standard goods and services procurement laws applicable to the purchasing entity (schools, counties, municipalities, or state agencies)

Defines "playground equipment" as structures for children's recreational use on public property, including slides, swings, climbing equipment, seesaws, splash pads, plus ancillary items like safety surfacing, fencing, signage, and shade structures

Amends Section 39-2-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975, building on changes made by Act 2025-383

Effective date: June 1, 2026
