Operating an unmanned aircraft system (drone) within 400 feet of or above a ticketed entertainment event becomes unlawful, with first violations punishable by fines up to $500 and subsequent violations classified as Class A misdemeanors

Ticketed entertainment events covered include music, sporting, and performing arts events held in locations with gated entries or barriers requiring a revocable license for attendance

Exemptions apply for operators with event consent, federally authorized drone operators, venue employees, utility service provider employees, and state/law enforcement/fire/emergency personnel conducting official business

Private property owners may operate their own drones above their property if consistent with federal regulations and not for commercial purposes, messaging, recording for broadcast, or interfering with events

Middle school and high school sports events are explicitly exempted from the restrictions; effective date is October 1, 2026
