AL HB500

Establishes three constables for each Alabama House of Representatives district with territory in Mobile County, beginning with terms starting in 2029

Constables will be elected to four-year terms, beginning the first Monday after the second Tuesday following their election

Requires each constable to be a qualified elector (registered voter) of the district they represent to be eligible for office

Effective date is January 1, 2028, contingent on passage of a general law authorizing local legislation to alter the office of constable
