Entities with at least 6 employees must accept cash as payment for in-person purchases of goods or services, effective October 1, 2026.

Airport vendors are exempt, though airports with more than two vendors per terminal must require at least two to accept cash.

Municipal parking facilities, mobile-payment-only parking facilities, and motor vehicle rental companies are exempt (rental companies must accept cashier's or certified checks if not accepting cash).

Retail stores and public colleges are exempt if they provide on-site devices that convert cash to prepaid credit cards with no fee and a maximum $5 minimum deposit requirement.
