Shelby County Commission may authorize the sale of gas, minerals, or other commodities produced by the county's public landfill operations to public or private parties

Sales contracts must be awarded through competitive sealed bidding to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder

Contract terms cannot exceed 20 years

Proceeds must be deposited into Shelby County's General Fund and used for solid waste collection/disposal, landfill maintenance and construction (including gas collection systems), and other legally allowed purposes

Effective date: October 1, 2026
