State Police Tier II Plan members of the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama would become eligible to receive payment for up to 80 hours per year of accrued and unused annual leave exceeding 480 hours

Updates statutory references from "Department of Public Safety" to "Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency" to reflect current agency structure

Payment for excess leave would be calculated using the employee's regular rate of pay

Extends an existing benefit already available to certain law enforcement officers and Department of Corrections employees certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission

Effective date: October 1, 2026
