Proposes a constitutional amendment authorizing the Covington County Sheriff to sell abandoned, stolen, and unclaimed personal property and firearms recovered by the sheriff's office

Owners have 6 months to claim property or sale proceeds; after that period, net funds go to the sheriff's office for law enforcement purposes

Firearms may only be sold to federally licensed gun dealers through sealed bid process, or may be destroyed at the sheriff's discretion

Public auctions or internet auctions for non-firearm property require notice published in a local newspaper for 2 consecutive weeks or posted at the courthouse for at least 20 days

Requires voter approval in Covington County; passed the House on March 17, 2026 and the Senate on March 31, 2026
