County judges of probate must order a post-election audit after every countywide and statewide general election, with the county canvassing board randomly selecting at least one precinct and one race to audit (excluding absentee and provisional ballots)

Audits must begin no earlier than 31 days after the election and be completed within 30 days of commencement, with results reported to the Secretary of State for public posting

Audits may be conducted by manual tally or ballot counters, but at least 30 randomly selected ballots must be manually examined and compared to machine results

Poll watchers and accredited media are permitted to observe the audit process, with public notice required via newspaper or county website

All county expenses for conducting audits shall be fully reimbursed by the State Comptroller
