Preserves core human rights including dignity, freedom from abuse/neglect/exploitation, independence, religious expression, personal privacy, and safe living environments

Grants decision-making rights requiring guardians to respect the adult's goals and preferences regarding medical treatment, cultural practices, and religious beliefs

Ensures adults can participate in decisions affecting their care, living situation, property management, and social interactions to the extent they desire and are able
