Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle proclaimed June 28 as "Microwave Dave Day" in perpetuity in 2015, which led to the creation of The Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that awards four annual scholarships for music lessons to North Alabama students

Resolution passed the House on February 26, 2026, and was adopted by the Senate on March 5, 2026
