On August 26, 2025, Trooper Wasden responded to a medical emergency on I-65 near mile marker 136 in Butler County, where he found driver John Wilbur Dotson, Jr. unresponsive in his vehicle

Trooper Wasden provided critical assistance by entering the ambulance and performing manual ventilation using a bag-valve mask with supplemental oxygen while medics attended to other tasks

The driver was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and has recovered well; Trooper Wasden's intervention was credited as essential to the patient's survival
