Recognizes Mountain Brook Police Officer Richard Knecht for receiving the Safe Schools Leadership Award at the Alabama Association of School Resource Officers (TAASRO) Conference held June 2-6, 2025, in Orange Beach

Officer Knecht has served as School Resource Officer at Mountain Brook High School for more than 8 years, beginning his law enforcement career in Bessemer in 2000 before transferring to Mountain Brook in 2003

Knecht holds the TAASRO School Safety Specialist designation, an elite credential held by only 15 officers statewide, and has served on the TAASRO Board for 5 years representing Region IV counties

Created the Mountain Brook Police Department Autism Awareness patch to raise funds for the Autism Society of Alabama

Joint resolution by both houses of the Alabama Legislature commending Officer Knecht for his dedication to school safety
