Joint resolution mourning the death of former Alabama State Representative Howard Sanderford, who passed away January 7, 2026, at age 90

Sanderford served 33 years in the Alabama House of Representatives (1989-2022), representing the 20th District after winning a special election

Prior to legislative service, he was a U.S. Marine Corps officer who participated in the 1958 Beirut, Lebanon landing, and later worked as an IBM executive in Huntsville before founding Computer Leasing Company, Inc.

Held numerous legislative positions including Chair of the House Boards, Agencies, and Commissions Committee and Cochair of the Joint Legislative Sunset Committee; championed the Space Academy for Leading Students in Alabama (SALSA) scholarship program

Resolution passed the House on January 13, 2026, and was adopted by the Senate on January 14, 2026
