Alabama Legislature commends U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major Kevin D. Harkey, a Huntsville native, for more than 30 years of military service ending with his retirement on October 31, 2021

CSM Harkey served in the 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, with deployments to Honduras, Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom), and Kosovo (Operation Joint Guardian)

Military career included roles as Licensed Practical Nurse, Critical Care Unit Nurse, First Sergeant of Warrior Transition Unit, and various command positions at installations in Germany, Texas, Kentucky, Virginia, and Louisiana

Earned multiple honors including Meritorious Service Medal (4 OLC), Combat Action Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Order of Military Medical Merit, and 101st Airborne Division NCO of the Year (1999)

Holds three degrees Summa Cum Laude: Associate's and Bachelor's in Information Systems from Strayer University and Master's in Cybersecurity from Liberty University
