Recognizes Mountain Brook Police Officer Richard Knecht for receiving the Safe Schools Leadership Award at The Alabama Association of School Resource Officers (TAASRO) Conference held June 2-6, 2025, in Orange Beach

Officer Knecht has served as a police officer since 2000, transferred to Mountain Brook in 2003, and has been the School Resource Officer at Mountain Brook High School for more than eight years

Officer Knecht and fellow SRO Lance Ziska were recognized as TAASRO School Safety Specialists, an elite designation held by only 15 officers statewide

Officer Knecht has served on the TAASRO Board for five years representing Region IV counties (Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa)

Created the MBPD Autism Awareness patch to raise funds for the Autism Society of Alabama and awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder
