Alabama House Resolution HR165 honors Jerry McLaren Kelly, Sr. of Brewton, Alabama, who died February 1, 2026, at age 89

Kelly was a decorated T.R. Miller High School athlete, earning All-State honors in both basketball and football, and played on the undefeated 1952 State Basketball Championship team

Served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Unit, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant at Fort Benning

Had a 65-year banking career, including 58 years at the Bank of Brewton, and held numerous civic positions including Chair of Brewton Chamber of Commerce and board member of Brewton City Schools and D.W. McMillan Hospital

Survived by wife of 60 years, Naomi Frazier Kelly, three children, and five grandchildren
