Alabama House Resolution mourning the death of John Hackett, Jr. of Birmingham, who passed away on February 23, 2026, at age 82

Hackett was a 1965 Alabama A&M University graduate and served as a District 7 member of the AAMU Board of Trustees and President of the AAMU National Alumni Association from 2012 to 2014

Career spanned approximately seven years teaching woodworking in Birmingham and Vestavia school systems, followed by over 35 years with the City of Birmingham, Housing Authority of the Birmingham District, and Alabama Power Company

Hackett was CEO of J.H. Jr. & Associates, LLC, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and held professional certifications from North Carolina State University and The University of Alabama

Resolution offers tribute to his life and service, and extends sympathy to his wife of nearly 45 years, four children, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren
