Born February 14, 1948, in Russell County, Alabama; graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1966 and received a four-year baseball scholarship to Fort Valley State College in Georgia

Named Most Outstanding College Athlete in America and inducted into the inaugural class of the Phenix City Sports Hall of Fame

Worked 30 years at Mead Coated Board and was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church in Phenix City

Survived by wife Rosie Goshay, four children, six grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and extended family members
