Robinson was born May 22, 1928, in Dermott, Arkansas, and was blind from a young age; he performed with renowned gospel groups including The Highway Q.C.'s, The Fairfield Four, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and The Blind Boys of Mississippi

Career spanned more than 70 years, transitioning from quartet gospel in the 1940s-50s to secular R&B in the 1960s with hits including "That's Enough" and "Do It Right Now"

Moved to Birmingham in 1969 where he mentored young artists, participated in concerts, and supported traditional gospel music preservation; inducted into the Birmingham Record Collectors Music Hall of Fame
