Alabama House Resolution honors Dr. Bernice Carter Richardson as the special guest at the Rosetta James Foundation's 20th Annual "Honoring Our Elders Day" Gala on March 14, 2026, at the Jackson Center in Huntsville

Dr. Richardson earned a Doctor of Education in 1978 and spent more than 35 years at Alabama A&M University serving as Coordinator of Human Development, Department Chair, Associate Dean, and accreditation leader

In 1999, she helped establish Huntsville's first Family Center serving public housing needs through a university partnership; after retirement, she launched the Presidential Bus Recruitment Tour, now in its 13th year

The Rosetta James Foundation's annual gala honors community and civic volunteers aged 70 and above while raising scholarship funds for students who demonstrate volunteerism, academic excellence, and civic engagement
