Founded in 1880 by Christian families who migrated from Aberdeen, Mississippi, with first permanent sanctuary constructed on Steele Street in 1886

Sanctuary underwent complete renovation after a devastating flood in December 2023 damaged the building

Renovated sanctuary includes advanced sound and lighting, enhanced broadcasting capabilities, wide-screen displays, and flexible pulpit and stage

Current pastor is Reverend Dr. Carlos D. Williams; notable past leaders include Reverend Dr. Horace P. Snodgrass and Reverend Dr. Julius R. Scruggs
