Department of Human Resources must develop and implement dementia training covering identification of individuals with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias, common safety risks (wandering, falling, neglect), communication impairments, and best practices for preventing abuse and neglect

Employees and contractors responsible for investigating complaints about adults in need of care and protection must complete 2 hours of dementia training upon starting employment or contract assignment

Continuing education requirement of 2 hours of dementia training every two years for covered employees and contractors

Department is authorized to adopt rules for curriculum development, training schedules, and documentation requirements

Effective date: October 1, 2026
