Creates new crime of "interference with a first responder" under Section 13A-10-2.1 of the Alabama Code

Defines "first responder" as law enforcement officers, firefighters, or emergency medical services personnel

Offense occurs when a person, after being instructed to not approach or vacate an area, approaches or remains within 25 feet of a first responder and impedes their duties, threatens them with physical harm, or makes physical contact

Classified as a Class A misdemeanor

Does not apply to obstruction of arrests; effective October 1, 2026
