Shelby County Commission may authorize the sale of gas, minerals, or other commodities produced by the county's public landfill operations to public or private parties

All sales contracts must be awarded through competitive sealed bidding to the lowest responsible and responsive bidder

Contract terms are limited to a maximum of 20 years

Sale proceeds must be deposited into the Shelby County General Fund and used for solid waste collection/disposal, landfill maintenance and construction, gas collection systems, and other legally permitted purposes

Effective date: October 1, 2026
