Authorizes rounding in-person cash transactions to the nearest five cents (e.g., amounts ending in 1-2 round down, 3-4 round up to 5, 6-7 round down to 5, 8-9 round up to next zero)

Rounding applies only to cash transactions and does not affect electronic payments, checks, credit cards, gift cards, or money orders

Sales price, sales tax amounts under Section 40-23-26, and other surcharges or fees remain unaffected by the rounding provision

Excludes payments made to governmental entities, defined as any state or local agency in Alabama

Requires the Department of Revenue to post a website notice authorizing the start of transaction rounding; effective immediately upon passage
