Alabama Legislature commends the Alabama Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (ASDAR) and Alabama Society Sons of the American Revolution (ALSSAR) for their service to the state and nation

ASDAR, established in 1894, has more than 4,000 members in 71 chapters statewide and is affiliated with the national DAR organization of 185,000+ members

ASDAR founded and sustains the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School in Grant, Alabama, established in 1924, which currently serves more than 1,300 students in an economically disadvantaged region

Both organizations engage in historic preservation, education, patriotic programs, veteran support, scholarship contests, and commemoration of Revolutionary War era anniversaries

Resolution passed the Senate on January 15, 2026 and the House of Representatives on January 22, 2026
