Alabama Legislature mourns the death of John "Johnny" David Williams of Tuscaloosa, who died February 4, 2025, at age 68

Williams had a career spanning high school and collegiate coaching, serving 20 years at Troy University including 10 years as Athletic Director, where he received the 2002 General Robert Neyland Athletics Director Award

Founded Creative Marketing Management and was hired by ESPN Events in 2013 to run postseason Division I bowl games; created the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic and the Camellia Bowl (now Salute to Veterans Bowl) in Montgomery

Also served as Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Alabama and was inducted into the Troy Sports Hall of Fame in 2016

Resolution expresses sympathy to his survivors including his wife of 44 years Robin, two children, four grandchildren, and siblings
