Ms. Hatcher was the mother of Senator Kirk Hatcher and worked as a master tailor and seamstress for over six decades, owning her own business called Custom Creations

Born November 4, 1942, in Montgomery, she was raised by her aunt Nellie Hatcher Lee and uncle John Arthur Lee following her mother's early death

Active member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church since age eight, where she sang lead vocals in the Senior Choir and Gospel Chorus

Resolution passed the Senate on January 13, 2026, and the House of Representatives on January 22, 2026
