Church was founded in 1876 as Chalybeate Springs Baptist Church with 27 members under Elder James Grimes, renamed to current name in 1917

Current membership exceeds 6,000 under the leadership of Dr. Kevin Hamm, who became pastor in 2006

Church relocated in 2010 to its present location alongside Interstate 65, featuring a 125-foot cross visible from the highway

Joint resolution passed the Alabama Senate on February 10, 2026 and the House of Representatives on February 17, 2026
