Alabama Legislature mourns the death of Eddie Conyers, who passed away on January 27, 2026, in Tuscaloosa at age 97

Conyers served as a football practice official at The University of Alabama for nearly 60 years, beginning in 1962 when hired by Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant

Worked with 12 national championship teams under coaches including Bryant, Gene Stallings, and Nick Saban

Received recognition including the coaches' dressing room in the football complex dedicated in his name (2006) and the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame's Frank "Pig" House Award (2022)

Resolution expresses sympathy to survivors including wife Peggy, children Bubba Conyers and Donna Jernigan, and three grandchildren
