Guthrie worked in governmental affairs as an associate at the Bloom Group lobbying firm in Montgomery, representing Alabama cities including Cullman and various business interests at the State House

Graduate of Fairview High School in Cullman and Jacksonville State University, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity

Survived by wife Donna, three children, two grandchildren, two siblings, and multiple nieces and nephews

Resolution passed the Senate on February 17, 2026 and the House of Representatives on February 19, 2026
