Alabama Legislature commends Madison City Schools bus driver Tommy Jacques for his emergency response to an unresponsive child on his Midtown Elementary School bus route on November 18, 2025

Jacques pulled the bus over, called the MCS bus garage to report his location and request an ambulance, moved other students to the back, checked the child's pulse, and positioned him on his side until first responders arrived

The child fully recovered and returned to school; Jacques was honored at a Madison Board of Education meeting by Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols and Transportation Administrator Dr. Travis Schrimsher

Jacques has eight years of bus driving experience from Franklin Furnace, Ohio, where he received annual training and CPR classes that prepared him for the emergency
