Alabama Legislature commends Madison City Schools bus driver Tommy Jacques for emergency actions on November 18, 2025, when he cared for an unresponsive child on his Midtown Elementary School route until paramedics arrived

Jacques pulled the bus over, contacted the MCS bus garage to request an ambulance, moved other students to the back, checked the boy's pulse, and positioned him on his side

The child was transported to the hospital, fully recovered, and returned to school

Jacques was honored at a Madison Board of Education meeting by Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols and Transportation Administrator Dr. Travis Schrimsher for his quick action and lifesaving skills

Jacques has 8 years of bus driving experience from Franklin Furnace, Ohio, including annual training and CPR classes that prepared him for emergency response
