Joint resolution commending Mr. Jim America for seven years of service on the Athens State University Board of Trustees, including serving as board vice chair from 2022 through 2026

Mr. America chaired the Academic Affairs and External Affairs committees and served on the Executive and Audit Committees during his tenure

Currently President of Thermal Corporation in Madison, with previous executive HR positions at Carpenter Technology Corporation, U.S. Pipe and Foundry Company (2003-2009), and Colonial Pipeline Company (2009-2012)

During his board tenure, Athens State University introduced a Master of Fine Arts program, created residence halls for the Alabama Center for the Arts, and completed capital improvements including The Nazaretian Alumni Welcome Center, Brown Hall, and Carter Hall

Mr. America holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Auburn University (1985) and a Master's degree in Public and Private Management from Birmingham-Southern College (2009)
