Senior Trooper Hunter Woodruff of the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency is commended as a recipient of the 2026 Alabama Legislative Meritorious Service Award for Law Enforcement.

Woodruff joined the agency in 2020 and completed extensive advanced training including Active Shooter Crisis Management, SWAT Tactical Operations, Human Trafficking, and DEA Drug Interdiction courses.

On November 12, 2025, Woodruff responded to a gunshot victim at an apartment complex in Prattville, Autauga County, and administered lifesaving first aid by applying clotting agents and direct pressure to two gunshot wounds.

Prattville Fire Chief Josh Bingham credited Woodruff's swift actions with saving the victim's life.

The resolution is sponsored by 35 Alabama State Senators and was first read on March 12, 2026.
