Arkansas Higher Education Coordinating Board shall implement a statewide common course numbering system for general education courses to improve program planning, increase communication among delivery systems, facilitate student and credit transfers, and promote consistency in course designation.

Common course numbering system shall replace the course index numbers that are part of the existing Arkansas Course Transfer System.

State-supported institutions of higher education must include approved common course numbers in all course listings, course documents, catalogs, and websites.

Director of the Department of Higher Education shall recommend additions or alterations to the system, which the board must approve with input from the President's Council.

Department of Higher Education shall conduct annual course reviews, establish review procedures, adopt data collection policies to ensure compliance, and promulgate rules to carry out the common course numbering system requirements.
