AR HB1817

Amends Arkansas Code 9-25-102 to allow the state, counties, cities, towns, school districts, persons, corporations, and organizations to recover damages up to $5,000 from parents of minors under 18 years old for property destruction, damage, or defacement.

Changes language to hold "a parent or legal guardian" liable instead of requiring both "the parents," allowing recovery from a single parent or guardian.

Adds "damage, or deface" to the list of actionable conduct by minors beyond just "destroy."

Exempts destruction of property caused by minors under 18 who are in the custody of the Department of Human Services from liability.

Exempts minors younger than 13 years old who deface property with graffiti from parental liability.
